Grant Timeline:

Application Submission Due January 9, 2026 at noon for the July 2026 - June 2027 cycle

Submissions received after the stated deadline may be subject to penalties, including potential removal from consideration.

All applicants and programs must provide services within the Mid & South Jefferson County area (eligible ZIP codes: 77619, 77627, 77640, 77641, 77642, 77643, 77651, and 77655).

To save your progress and return at a later time, applicants must sign in to the website using their assigned username and password. GRANT INFORMATION

Criteria to Apply

Eligibility & Selection Criteria Applicants must provide services within the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson jurisdiction (zip codes) 77619, 77627, 77640, 77641, 77642, 77643, 77651, 77655 & cities included Groves, Nederland, Port Arthur, Port Neches, and Sabine Pass

  • Once the Letter of Intent is submitted it will be reviewed and if it meets basic criteria, an invitation to apply will be made via email in January.
  • Applications will be reviewed only if the packet submitted is completed and all requested documentation is included at time of submission. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the committee.

Eligibility Requirements

  • An active local or regional governing board (primarily residing in Jefferson County) of adequate size, background, and diversity to represent the community, serving without compensation, holding regular, documented meetings (at least quarterly) and demonstrating effective administrative control.
  • Clearly stated, measurable objectives for each program seeking Community Investment Funds.
  • A program that addresses a clearly demonstrated community need in reference to at least one of the three areas of United Way focus of Education, Income and Health.
  • A satisfactory past record of providing community services demonstrated by two years of service utilized by the community as evidenced by service utilization figures; individual program financing during this time period from several sources (including at least one that is inherent to the community.)
  • A categorized operating budget system which translates program plans into financial terms; uses proper financial accounting procedures; regular annual financial reviews/audits, as outlined in the Annual Financial Reporting
  • Policy of the UWMSJC, showing all income and disbursements in reasonable detail prepared by an independent Certified Public Accountant.
  • Evidence of consultation and cooperation with established, related agencies to prevent duplication of effort and achieve efficiency and economy of operation.
  • Programs available to citizens of the community without regard to race, religion, national origin, or political creed; Incorporated, non-profit corporation status under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code. Demonstrated compliance with all applicable statutes and licensing, accreditation, and governmental code requirements.

Community Investment Grant United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County (UWMSJC) recruits people and organizations that bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. We invite those agencies with programming supporting our four part focus and meeting the stated requirements to apply for grant funding.   • November 1- LOI submission portal opens. 
  • December 1 - deadline to submit LOI
  • January 6 - if LOI meets criteria, an invitation to apply will be sent via email on or before January 6th.
  • January 9 - Community Investment Grant Applications are due by noon.
  • February - March - Site Visits & Interviews
  • April-May - Award Announcements
  • July 1 - Partner Agency Year Begins

 

New programs seeking funding from the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County must submit a Letter of Intent in order to apply for funding for the following fiscal year. This is not the application for grant funding. The Letter of Intent is the first requirement prior to the grant application due in January. All applications and programs must provide services in the Mid & South Jefferson County area (zip codes include 77619, 77627, 77640, 77641, 77642, 77643, 77651, 77655).
