Criteria to Apply

  • Eligibility & Selection Criteria Applicants must provide services within the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson jurisdiction (zip codes) 77619, 77627, 77640, 77641, 77642, 77643, 77651, 77655, and cities including Groves, Nederland, Port Arthur, Port Neches, and Sabine Pass. Any funds awarded are restricted to programs or the support of programs in the zip codes listed.
  • Applications will be reviewed only if the completed packet and all requested documentation is included at the time of submission. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • An active local or regional governing board (with Jefferson County representation) of adequate size, background, and diversity to represent the community, serving without compensation, holding regular, documented meetings (at least quarterly), and demonstrating effective administrative control.
  • All projects must address a demonstrated community need in at least one of United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County's four focus areas: Youth Opportunity/Education, Healthy Community, Household Stability, and Community Resilience.
  • Applicants must have identified Outcome Measurements, Strategic Plan, and Service Plan for the program seeking consideration.
  • A categorized operating budget that translates program plans into financial terms; use proper financial accounting procedures; regular annual financial reviews/audits, as outlined in the Annual Financial Reporting.
  • Evidence of consultation and cooperation with established, related agencies to prevent duplication of effort and achieve efficiency and economy of operation.
  • The program must provide services that will address the needs of working families and those demographics outlined in the A.L.I.C.E. report for Jefferson County. https://www.unitedwayalice.org/texas
  • Programs available to community citizens without regard to race, religion, national origin, or political creed; Incorporated, non-profit corporation status under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Compliance with all applicable statutes, licensing, accreditation, and governmental code requirements.

 

  • December 1st  - application opens

  • April - May - Innovation Lab Certification Training
  • May/June - Innovation Lab Event
